  • Expanded Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – STEM – labs in more elementary schools.
  • Facilitated implementation of the innovative Project Lead the Way program at our Intermediate Schools to provide students an engaging environment to develop the engineering and technical knowledge and skills needed to thrive and be successful.
  • Expanded online course offerings for high school students and added an online tool to help students and parents plan for college.
  • Revamped and improved the intra-district School Choice process for parents and students at all grade levels.
  • Expanded Technology across the district providing Chromebooks to more students and faster internet connections.
  • Encouraged and supported grant writing bringing over $2 million in grants to expand Career Technical Education in the district.
  • Advocated for and supported business partnerships including one with Haas Manufacturing to provide 21st Century learning experiences in a commercial grade Career Technology classroom at Trabuco Hills High.
  • Provided additional support for instrumental music programs and athletics including funds to repair instruments and purchase new ones and for teams to purchase new uniforms or equipment.
  • Created ongoing energy savings with installation of solar carports at high schools and the district office.
  • Saved taxpayers money by refinancing Measure B Facility Bonds and reducing the interest rate.
  • Led School Board through a successful appointment process instead of a costly special election to fill Board vacancy that saved the district over $100,000.
  • Restored 180 day school year and restored salary compensation for all employees which had been cut in 2010.
  • Pushed for Customer Service training for district office personnel to sharpen their focus on supporting SVUSD students and schools.
  • Advocated for and supported Staff Development Opportunities.
  • Encouraged and supported teachers and administrators to utilize innovative classroom observations including reflective walks to enhance student learning.
  • Advocated for and supported articulation agreements with Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College.
  • Encouraged and supported the superintendent to continue parent information forums.
  • Advocated for and supported a new evaluation tool to better assess administrators and help them develop their professional skills.
  • Stayed focused on students first and remained open and accessible to parents, district staff and community members.
